Plaud Introduces NotePin S and Desktop Notetaking App Ahead of CES

Plaud, a company known for its hardware innovations, has unveiled the NotePin S—an AI-powered notetaking device—alongside a new desktop application designed to streamline note capture during online meetings. These launches come just before the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas.

The original pin-shaped notetaker made its debut in 2024 and received positive feedback from reviewers. The latest NotePin S features a physical button for easy control, allowing users to start or stop recordings and mark important moments with a simple tap. This functionality mirrors what’s available on the recently released Plaud Note Pro.

With a price tag of $179, the NotePin S package includes a variety of accessories: a clip, lanyard, magnetic pin, and wristband, giving users flexible options for wearing or carrying the device. Additionally, Plaud has integrated Apple Find My support, making it simple to locate the pin if it’s misplaced.

The device maintains the core specs of its predecessor, offering 64GB of internal storage and up to 20 hours of continuous recording on a single charge. Dual MEMS microphones ensure clear audio capture within a 9.8-foot radius. Each user receives 300 minutes of transcription per month at no extra cost.

Compared to the Note Pro, the NotePin S has a more compact design, though it offers a shorter recording range and less battery life. Its portability makes it ideal for users who are frequently on the move.

This marks Plaud’s fourth product release, with over 1.5 million units sold to date. While previous devices have focused on in-person meeting scenarios, Plaud is now expanding its reach with a desktop app that competes with similar services. The new app can automatically detect when a meeting is underway and prompt users to record and transcribe the conversation.

The Mac version of the app utilizes system audio to capture meetings and employs AI to organize transcriptions into structured notes. Last year, Plaud introduced multimodal input capabilities, allowing users to supplement audio transcriptions with images and typed notes. This feature is now available in the desktop application as well.
