NVIDIA Snatches $5B Intel Stake as SEC Filing Confirms 214.8 Million Intel Shares Sold
In a fresh SEC filing, Intel disclosed the sale of 214.8 million shares to NVIDIA for about $5 billion, conducted under a securities purchase agreement dated September 15, 2023.
The move follows NVIDIA’s $5 billion investment in Intel announced on September 18, intended to support the chipmaker’s turnaround, while it did not commit to any key chip-manufacturing orders.
The two companies also signed a framework to jointly develop PC and data center chips, a pact that could influence supply chain dynamics, given NVIDIA’s current role as a leading GPU and processor supplier and the dependence on external foundries such as TSMC.
While the collaboration underscores closer ties, the long-term impact on supply-chain dynamics remains uncertain and should be evaluated against evolving capex and fab allocation trends.
