Hamster Kombat token airdrop set for next month
Telegram-based game Hamster Kombat announced its token airdrop will occur next month on Sept. 26. The game’s team recently said in a whitepaper that 60% of its token airdrop will be dedicated to players.
After a bit of a delay, the seemingly popular Telegram-based crypto game Hamster Kombat said it's scheduling its first airdrop for next month.
In a post to its Telegram channel, which has over 52 million subscribers, Hamster Kombat's team said the token generation event, or TGE, would happen on Sept. 26. Hamster Kombat's developers recently said in a whitepaper that 60% of its token airdrop will be dedicated to players.
"The rest is reserved for providing market liquidity, ecosystem partnerships and grants, rewarding squads, and other items," the Hamster Kombat whitepaper also said.
Previously the team behind the game had planned to initiate the airdrop in July but then delayed the TGE. When they published the Hamster Kombat whitepaper, the game's team said the technical challenges of the airdrop had made it “impossible to predict” when it would happen.
It appeared one of he major challenges of airdrop would be the large number of users attempting to take advantage of the TGE. In July, Hamster Kombat's team said the game had about 50 million daily active users spread over 190 countries. It is unclear how many of the game's users are bots.
The Telegram-based clicker game, Notcoin, is in many ways responsible for drawing attention to Hamster Kombat, and other similar games like Yescoin. In May, Notcoin airdropped more than 80 billion NOT tokens , worth about $1 billion at the time.
Hamster Kombat's founders told The Block that Notcoin's success inspired their game. The founders also said they are planning on a second airdrop.
