French Media: Pavel Durov, aware of being wanted by France, still decides to go to Paris
News on August 25, according to France's Le Monde, Telegram CEO Pavel Durov was arrested accompanied by bodyguards and assistants. He flew privately from Baku to Paris and is expected to spend at least one night in Paris. This billionaire knew he was wanted in France but still decided to go there. Previously, Pavel Durov obtained French citizenship through a special program in 2021 and currently holds dual nationality of France and Russia. Pavel Durov and his brother Nikolai launched Telegram in 2013, which is committed to protecting user privacy. In a rare interview held in Dubai in April, Pavel Durov said that when he created the social network VK, he faced tremendous pressure from Russian authorities which gave him the idea of launching encrypted messaging service. So he left Russia in 2014 then tried settling down in Berlin, London, Singapore and San Francisco before finally setting up Telegram headquarters in Dubai.
