Malaysian authorities arrest seven suspected Bitcoin mining-related power thefts
On Saturday, three local residents and four foreigners were arrested and detained for allegedly stealing electricity to provide power for bitcoin mining operations. The report stated that Wan Kamarul Azran Wan Yusof, the ACP of the Subang Jaya District Police, said that these individuals had no prior criminal records and that the authorities' aim was to "investigate illegal bitcoin mining activities involving electricity theft." Local police added that they seized 52 bitcoin mining devices and other electronic equipment, with a total estimated value of MYR 250,000 (approximately USD 57,000).
